Rancho Bernardo is a community in the city of San Diego, California with a population of 48,875. It is located about 20 miles north-east of downtown San Diego, northwest of the city of Poway and south of Escondido.

EDUCATION
Rancho Bernardo offers one of California's highest rated school districts. Poway Unified School District with local access to elementary, middle and high schools, namely Chaparrel, Westwood and Highland Ranch Elementary, Bernardo Heights Middle School and Rancho Bernardo High School. Rancho Bernardo High School, known as RBHS, opened in September 1990 and is the district's third high school with  approximately 2,800 students in grades 9 through 12, and approximately 150 faculty members. Post-secondary education for residents of Rancho Bernardo is easy to access to San Diego's  many universities and colleges including San Diego State University, University of San Diego, Palomar College, Miramar College, San Diego Mesa College and National University, all located within 20 miles of Rancho Bernardo.

RECREATION
This community has no shortage of activities. The Rancho Bernardo-Glassman Recreation Center and Park spans over 38 acres of land, providing residents with the use of two play areas, a dog park, tennis courts, basketball courts, ball fields, as well as an indoor gymnasium. There are parks within Rancho Bernardo offering a variety of activities and ammenties including hiking trails, Lake Hodges bike trails and fishing and seven public and private golf courses within the community. In San Diego enjoy Balboa Park - with its horticultural and cultural resources and home to the World Famous San Diego Zoo and Old Globe Theatre, Mission Bay Park - with 4,235 acres and the largest man-made public aquatic recreational area in the world, Presidio Park – with over 50 acres and overlooking Mission Bay, San Diego Bay, Mission Valley and the Pacific Ocean and home to The Serra Museum, and more than 2 miles of trails for cycling and walking, and Shoreline Parks – a coastal system including 65 view areas and coastal access points.
